COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

FabriCaping Therapy Technique is a technique designed to improve balance, posture, ROM, and strength using fabric and capes while promoting relaxation through visual, tactile, and audio stimulation. The participant will learn various moves and ways of using fabric to produce therapeutic healing in combination with the properties of the water. FabriCaping is a great pain management technique due to the meditative and mesmerizing effect the flowing fabric can produce.   

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1)   Demonstrate five basic moves and five balance moves of the FabriCaping Therapy Technique.

2)   Demonstrate proper arm movements to keep fabric flowing.

3)   Demonstrate basic moves in combination with balance moves and proper arm movements.

4)   Experience the meditative and mesmerizing effect of FabriCaping to gain an understanding of the relaxing quality of the technique.

 

FACULTY: Rosemary Herlong, MS, LRT/CTRS, ATRIC, has worked as an aquatic therapist since 1992, runs her own business, Waterspice, and works for Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC, as their aquatic therapist.  She was a recipient of the 2001 ATRI Tsunami Spirit Award.
