COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course utilizes ankle floatation devices to achieve unique stretches, which help in learning self-traction movements to experience freedom in joint range of motion for the entire body. This course will prove to be very helpful for fibromyalgia and arthritis populations.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

·   Apply the Feldenkrais® principles to move with greater efficiency.

·   Experience the inner awareness of how changes in the pelvis and spine affect the whole body structure’s mechanics.

·   Explore three specific lessons the help reorganize the relationship of the spine, pelvis and neck, which patients can learn to do on their own.

 

Participants:  Please bring a towel or mat for floor work. 

 

FACULTY:  Debbie Ashton, MS, ATRIC, has been teaching dance and exercise for over 35 years. As a certified Feldenkrais® and Watsu® Practitioner, she has been treating patients on land and in water at two physical therapy clinics and two wellness centers in Knoxville, TN for 18 years, while teaching her "Fluid Moves" courses internationally at conference and rehab facilities. Her "Alertness Breaks" programs have been offered as college credit courses, and in 1996, she became the first Feldenkrais® Practitioner to be on an Olympic medical team. She has produced three teaching videos and several audio sets, and developed the Well Beings Mats to support people in their independent healthy life choices.
