COURSE
DESCRIPTION:
Exercise is frequently recommended in the treatment of
diabetes mellitus. Recent studies have improved our understanding of the acute
and long-term metabolic and hormonal effects of physical activity in both
healthy controls and in people with diabetes. Exercise remains an important component
of the management of diabetes, but its role in the therapy for NIDM and IDDM is
clearly distinct. Learn valuable concepts on
physiology, evaluation, assessments, kinesiology, training strategies and
special considerations.
COURSE
OBJECTIVES:
1) Develop realistic and meaningful clinical guidelines for
the safe and rewarding participation in exercise.
2) Determine the role of a good metabolic control
in reducing the risk of developing complications with diabetes.
3) Increase the
competence of individuals who have clients with diabetes.
