COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

There is compelling evidence that disease management incorporating both physiology and psychology is establishing a secure foothold in contemporary cancer treatment. Interdisciplinary research is beginning to demonstrate that not only is exercise beneficial in improving mood state and quality of life for persons afflicted with cancer, but that exercise may have measurable, and potentially beneficial effects on immune system and other physically-oriented parameters.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1) Discover new ways to design and instruct exercise programs for cancer patients.

2) Examine how the disease affects quality of life and how exercise can benefit your patients.

3) Explore the latest scientific principles and theories related to the disease.

 

FACULTY: Eduardo Netto, MS, is on the academic faculty at the University Estácio de Sá in Brazil, and is the Fitness Director of the Body Tech Health Club. He has a master’s degree in human motricity, and is currently pursuing his PhD in medical studies. He is an international presenter and well-respected fitness professional and consultant in Brazil. He has published several books, DVDs and a CD-ROM.
