COURSE DESCRIPTION:
By
designing your pediatric treatment session plan with consideration for
developmental motor learning, handling skills, and sensory needs, you are more
likely to be successful in achieving your goals. This course will look at
pediatric handling techniques and session planning strategies to address the
needs of children with higher or lower tone. We will look at addressing,
strength, body awareness, motor learning, functional skills, endurance, and
social needs.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Design a treatment session for a child with higher tone.

Design a treatment session for a child with lower tone.
·
Demonstrate handling skills to address strength, body
awareness, and functional skill.
·
Gain a sense of adapting handling techniques to meet the
needs of individual children.
FACULTY: Dori
Maxon PT, PCS, MEd, ATRIC, is a physical therapist, specializing in
pediatrics and aquatics. In 1991, she founded SNAP, a non-profit
community-based aquatic program in
Berkeley, CA, serving children with special needs. Dori has been honored with
the 1999 Tsunami Spirit award, the 2001 ATRI Professional of the Year, and the
2004 John K. Williams Award.
