COURSE
DESCRIPTION: Ai Chi can
be understood as a resource that connects physical and psychological healing.
Learn to incorporate concepts of mental health into the way you think about and
teach Ai Chi. Help to promote intrapersonal, interpersonal, and community
health.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Comprehend the importance of bridging mind and body-based
therapies.
¨
Come to a basic understanding of mental health from an
interpersonal neurobiological point of view.
¨
Explore the characteristics of a healthy mind and understand
the parallels with the Ai Chi process.
¨
Recognize the levels of integration that reflect harmony
within the mind and learn how to promote these during the Ai Chi progression.
¨
Discover how to mentally prepare clients for Ai Chi to
maximize positive effects.
¨
Examine ways of tailoring the focus of the Ai Chi class to
the needs of different individuals and groups.
¨
Determine how Ai Chi fits into the big picture beyond the
pool.
FACULTY: Patty Henry-Schneider MS, LPC, is a psychotherapist certified in
EMDR and a certified Ai Chi instructor. She has encouraged movement toward
wellness by including body, mind, and spirit in the journey toward mental
health. Creating a bridge between providers of aquatic therapy and providers of
mental health services has become her passion.
