COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

Exercise plays an important role during, as well as, after pregnancy, however, each woman’s activity levels and body types may differ dramatically, calling for a personalized exercise prescription from her physician. The purpose of this lecture is to provide trainers with useful information necessary to choose the most appropriate exercise for pregnant women, on land and water.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1) Develop more realistic and meaningful clinical guidelines for the safe and rewarding participation of pregnant woman in exercise programs.

2) Examine how exercise interacts with pregnancy, physical conditions and past exercise history.

3) Promote a discussion of current and advancing theories of exercises and pregnancy.

 

FACULTY: Eduardo Netto, MS, is on the academic faculty at the University Estácio de Sá in Brazil, and is the Fitness Director of the Body Tech Health Club. He has a master’s degree in human motricity, and is currently pursuing his PhD in medical studies. He is an international presenter and well-respected fitness professional and consultant in Brazil. He has published several books, DVDs and a CD-ROM.
