COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed for cervical spine and parascapular/rotator cuff rehabilitation using several different aquatic techniques all designed to enhance: range of motion, strength, balance, neuromuscular re-education, and functional activities. A brief anatomical review will be provided, along with discussion of common impairments, disabilities, and handicaps found in this patient population. Explore various interventions found to be functional and FUN. People stay consistent with exercises that they enjoy doing. The primary focus while administering this cervical/shoulder-based, hydrotherapy program is to introduce exercises that are well liked. These exercises were gleaned from neck and shoulder rehab protocols, and current research, including: P.N.F. patterns, specific rotator cuff exercises, and important and sometimes forgotten, parascapular musculature therapy.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1) Identify which neck and shoulder exercise is most suitable for your
patient(s).
2) Examine the most recent, evidence-based, peer and non-peer reviewed journal
articles on hydrotherapy and how to find them efficiently in FREE databases.
3) Structure a hydrotherapy program around a patient’s needs and goals with
measured outcomes so everybody is happy: patients, therapists, MDs, and
third-party payers
