COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Revitalize your flexibility
programming with active stretch and core training combinations. Integrate Yoga
postures and diagonal movement patterns guaranteed to decrease joint and muscle
pain. Movements will simultaneously increase balance, muscular endurance and
joint range of motion. Take home multi-level progressions that utilize drag,
acceleration and traveling techniques.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Examine how Yoga postures decrease joint and muscle pain while increasing
muscular endurance and range of motion.
2. Determine the added benefits of incorporating diagonal movement patterns
with basic Yoga poses.
3. Explore Yoga postures to develop correct technique on land and in the water.
4. Demonstrate how to use the properties of water to increase balance,
range of motion and muscular endurance.
5. Experience how to use drag, acceleration, and traveling techniques for
exercise progression.
FACULTY: Laurie Denomme, B. Kinesiology, is the assistant director of operations for the Aquatic Exercise
Association (AEA), an AEA training specialist, a Bender Method master trainer,
and a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer. She is the director of
program development for Aquatic Options, an organization dedicated to providing
innovative aquatic exercise options that bridge the gap between physical
therapy and aquatic fitness programming. She co-authored a book on special
populations and post-rehab called The Aquatic After Care Training Manual
and travels internationally to share her unique and personally developed
aquatic training methods.
