Beginner / Pre-Symposium 4-hour Pool Workshop
(Pool: 7:00-9:00 am / Classroom: 9:20-11:20 am)
Faculty:
Laurie Denomme, B. Kinesiology
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Experience the powerful effects gained from combining Yoga postures with
resistance training in static and dynamic movement sequences. Review the
integrated relationship of muscles important for hip and back function and
learn practical core training ideas using isotonic and isometric muscle work.
The use of buoyant equipment will further enhance oneีs balance, strength and
functional performance.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Determine what the muscles need to be strengthened to improve hip and
back function.
2. Experience how static and dynamic movement sequences will enhance
balance and trunk stability.
3. Explore exercises that combine Yoga postures with resistance training
appropriate for low back pain and hip replacement.
4. Describe how to incorporate isometric and isotonic muscle work to
improve strength.
5. Demonstrate how to use buoyant equipment to improve muscular endurance
and core function.
