1618 – AquaStretch
Beginner /
Land Workshop
Las Vegas, NV / Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 – 6:00-7:00
pm – 1.0 credit hour equal to 1.0 CEC/.1 CEU
(Classroom: 6:00-7:00 pm)
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
AquaStretch is a new form of individual and
facilitated aquatic exercise, which may be used in wellness programs and also
as an aquatic therapy modality. AquaStretch simulates
being stretched by an athletic trainer, only with movement in various depths of
water (3-5 feet), and with 5-15-pound weights attached to your body. It also
functions as a cranial ÒunwindingÓ in water, with verbal psychological
encouragement to ÒMove, if you feel the need to moveÓ.
AquaStretch is considered a breakthrough in
pain management and preventive medicine. It may quickly restore flexibility
lost from accidents and surgeries, significantly and immediately reduce chronic
pain or pain in movement, and/or create profound relaxation that may help improve
sleep. AquaStretch theoretically breaks down fascial adhesions that inhibit flexibility or may cause
nerve impingements, muscle tension, vascular insufficiencies, hormonal
imbalances, and pain.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. View a
five-minute excerpt from AquaStretch training video at
AquaStretch.com. Please bring a flash drive if youÕd like a free copy of eight AquaStretch training videos.
2. Describe
basic procedure: Play, Freeze,
Pressure, Move (if you feel the need to move).
3. Review basic
AquaStretch theories, i.e. Intuitive Movement, Fascial Adhesions.
4. Summarize
experience of more than 1,000 patients in three groups: fitness, wellness, health
care. Referred by doctors, osteopaths, and numerous advanced practitioners
(APN, APH, LMT).
FACULTY:
George Eversaul, BA, APH, developed
the AquaStretch exercise following his own spinal
chord injury. He combines
facilitated stretching in various water depths with 5-15-pound weights attached
to the body, to more effectively stretch fascia. At the UNLV Wellness Center,
he trains AquaStretch facilitators, primarily
licensed massage therapists, certified athletic trainers, and fitness
instructors.
