COURSE
DESCRIPTION: The Aquatic Research Forum will
provide attendees with research information related to aquatic therapy, aquatic
fitness, and best-practice applications. The speakers will present research
they have conducted, research reviews, or best-practice summaries pertinent to
the aquatic practitioner. The purpose of the forum is to provide attendees with
up-to-date research on pertinent topics to apply to everyday practice.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

to research and best-practice topics pertinent to the aquatic professional.
2) Review
evidence-based research to help you with your referrals.
3) Examine
research topics relevant to the aquatic professional.
4) Apply
research and best-practice topics to everyday aquatic professional practice.
FACULTY: June
Chewning, MA, works as
president and educational specialist for Fitness Learning Systems, a company
providing continuing education to fitness professionals. She serves as adjunct
faculty for Cincinnati State College and has developed several course curricula
for their Health/Fitness Technician degree program. JuneÕs accomplishments include
international presenter, fitness center owner, and author of several fitness
articles, manuals, and CD-ROM courses.
Maria Sykorova-Pritz Ed.D, is a health and fitness professional/educator, who earned her doctorate in education (specialty in Physical
Education and Sports) from University Comenius in Bratislava, Slovakia. Maria
currently teaches and consults in Pennsylvania. Her training methods involve
integration of unique multidisciplinary techniques to achieve overall health
and optimized performance. She is a member of Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA)
Research Council.
Mary O. Wykle,
PhD, ATRIC, is a professor of physical education at Northern Virginia
Community College. She holds multiple
certifications in aquatics and fitness. Her company, MW Associates,
offers consulting workshops in health and aquatics. Mary is a long-time faculty member and serves on varied
committees for ATRI, AEA/IAFC, and WAHC. She is the author of Risk Awareness and Safety Training, the
Aqua Pi-Yo-Chiª course, and the Lumbar Stabilization
Exercises DVD.
