COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Core stabilization is the foundation to functional training.
Learn how to activate the deep core muscles while simultaneously improving power,
strength and endurance of the upper and lower extremities. Experience an
exercise progression strategy that will improve client outcomes for important
skills including balance, sit-to-stand, and turning. Integration of various
support stances, equipment, impact options, multi-planer movements, and vital
cueing strategies will be used to facilitate this process.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1) Examine why Yoga postures decrease joint and muscle pain while
increasing muscular endurance and joint range of motion.
2)
Identify muscles vital for
trunk and pelvic stability.
3) Demonstrate how to use the properties of water to activate the deep core
muscles while simultaneously improving power, strength, and endurance of the
upper and lower extremities.
4) Demonstrate appropriate progressions aimed to improve balance,
sit-to-stand, and turning skills.
5) Integrate various support stances, equipment, impact options,
multi-planer movements, and vital cueing strategies for added benefits.
