COURSE DESCRIPTION: With a better understanding of neuropathic pain, people in pain are often able to improve quality of life. This course is intended for anyone working with and educating patients about chronic pain. A six-week education program will be presented, explaining the mechanism of persistent pain, and techniques to decrease pain. Lesson topics, coping strategies, resources, and session outcomes will be discussed. The benefits of aquatic therapy for pain will be examined.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1)    List the objectives of a Persistent Pain Education Program.

2)    Outline session topics for a six-week program.

3)    Discuss program results and outcomes based on patient evaluation.

4)    Utilize resources and handouts used in this program.

 

FACULTY: Connie Jasinskas, MSc, brings over 25 years of experience, passion and humor to her work as an international health educator. She specializes in aquatic rehabilitation and post rehabilitation for musculoskeletal, and systemic health issues affecting functional movement. In Cambridge, Canada, she provides aquatic rehabilitation for patients (with a wide variety of needs) from a number of physiotherapy clinics. Her enthusiastic approach to active learning will help you put theory into practice.
