COURSE DESCRIPTION: Experience freedom in joint range
of motion for the entire body by using ankle floatation devices to achieve
unique stretches, which help in learning self-traction and restorative
movements. This course will prove to be very helpful for clients with back
pain, chronic pain (fibromyalgia, arthritis), deconditioned and aging populations. It is also
beneficial for re-patterning of the trunk.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1) Apply the Feldenkrais¨ principles to move with greater efficiency.
2) Experience
the inner awareness of how changes in the pelvis and spine affect the mechanics
of the entire body structure.
3) Identify
three specific lessons that help reorganize the relationship of the spine,
pelvis and neck, which patients can learn to do on their own.
FACULTY: Debbie
Ashton, MS, ATRIC, has been teaching dance and movement for
35 years. As a certified Feldenkrais¨ and Watsu¨ Practitioner, she treated patients on land and in
water at two physical therapy clinics and two wellness centers in Knoxville, TN
for 18 years. She was the first to develop Feldenkrais¨
in the water and has taught her "Fluid Moves" programs
internationally. She has produced five teaching DVDs and in 1996, she became
the first Feldenkrais¨ Practitioner to be on an
Olympic medical team, working with the kayak teams.
