COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The aquatic practitioner will be
introduced to effective hands-on aquatic techniques for spasticity reduction. The
practitioner will also learn aquatic movement precautions specific for
spasticity as well as understand indications for treatment
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1) Examine the influences of
neurophysiology that lead to spasticity, and the known inhibitory techniques.
2) Identify an interactive assistive manual contact to either facilitate or
inhibit reflexive movement of the lower extremities
3) Explore specific equipment applications as well as experience and
practice spasticity reduction techniques during pool lab.
FACULTY: Julia Fettig, CTRS, CMT, ATRIC, is the founder/owner of Therapeutic Aquatics, Inc. and aquatictherapyinfo.com, specializing in consulting, information and rehabilitation. She is a presenter for the Aquatic Therapy Rehab Institute, Inc. and is the author and publisher of The "Bad Ragaz Ring Method Visual Instructional Manual and Video". Also co-producer of ÒPNF in The PoolÓ Video, she is the recipient of the ATRI 2002 Tsunami Spirit Award for her innovation, creativity and implementation of new ideas. Her workshops have been received enthusiastically by national and international audiences.
