COURSE DESCRIPTION: Clinical Low Back Using Ai Chi is designed for aquatic practitioners who are interested in combining Shiatsu with gentle yoga meridian stretches and Ai Chi. Our easy, aquatic Shiatsu flows open up and balance energetic pathways. Learn how to specifically adapt these flows for low back care. The Japanese healing art of Shiatsu is based on the holistic system of traditional Chinese medicine. Therapists will learn how to apply finger and palm pressure to energetic pathways while consciously stretching with creative visualizations based on the Five Element Theory. These movements, combined with breath and visualization create a perfect self-care relaxation and healing technique for those who have issues with lower back and related challenges, such as digestive problems, fatigue, knee problems, hyper-tension, etc.

This course is based on Ai Chi movement and philosophy, and it is very helpful to take basic Ai Chi first in order to understand and cultivate your inner energy.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1)    Identify the concept of Oriental healing, the Yin and Yang Theory, and the principles of Shiatsu.

2)    Locate the major two extra meridians - Conception and Governing Vessels, while locating key acupuncture points along the two extra meridians.

3)    Identify and locate the 12 meridians and their key acupuncture points.

4)    Define and return demonstration of the Oriental approach to energy flow by using proper breathing techniques and creative visualization as in Ai Chi.

5)    Describe the Five Elements.

6)    Palpate points and describe their benefits for lower back and other related issues.
