COURSE DESCRIPTION: HereÕs an opportunity to
watch (and maybe try) several different aquatic therapy techniques to see if
they might work for your patients.

Julia
M. Fettig, CTRS, CMT, ATRIC,
is the founder/owner of Therapeutic Aquatics, Inc. and
aquatictherapyinfo.com, specializing in consulting, information and rehabilitation.
She is a continuing education presenter for the Aquatic Therapy & Rehab
Institute, Inc. and Motivations, Inc. The author and publisher of the "Bad
Ragaz Ring Method Visual Instructional Manual and
Video," she also co-produced the ÒPNF in The PoolÓ DVD. She is the
recipient of the 2002 ATRI Tsunami Spirit Award for her innovation, creativity
and implementation of new ideas. Both national and international audiences have
received her workshops enthusiastically.
Terri Mitchell, PTA, ATRIC, has been involved with aquatic fitness since 1982. She is a Training Specialist with the Aquatic Exercise Association, a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) specializing in aquatic therapy, and instructor of a variety of aquatic fitness classes to persons of all ages and abilities. Terri is on staff at the University of Texas at Austin and enjoys working with young adults in the water. She holds certifications from AEA, ATRI, and IAR. Terri is a Certified Personal Trainer for both land and water. She is co-author of ÒApplications of PNF Techniques in the Aquatic SettingÓ manual and co-producer of ÒPNF in the PoolÓ video. She is the 2001 recipient of ATRIÕs Dolphin Award and the 2010 recipient of the ATRI Professional Award.
Beth Scalone,
PT, DPT, OCS, is a licensed physical therapist
with over 18 years of experience in orthopedic and aquatic therapy. As the
owner of North County Water and Sports Therapy Center in San Diego (www.waterpt.com), she continues with hands-on clinical
care in addition to her role as educator. Since graduating from the University
of Connecticut in 1991, Beth has belonged to the American Physical Therapy
Association and has achieved certification as a Clinical Specialist in
Orthopedic Physical Therapy. In January 2006, she graduated from Boston
University with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Additional certifications
include Certified STOTT Pilatesª instructor and Master
Instructor for the Burdenko Method. Beth not only
provides continuing education for health care professionals, she is an adjunct
faculty in the San Diego Mesa College PTA program, teaching Orthopedic
Rehabilitation and Introduction to Pathology courses. She also provides the
learning module/instruction on aquatic therapy to the University of St.
Augustine San Diego Campus DPT program.
Ruth Sova, MS, ATRIC, founder/president of ATRI, is an
internationally known speaker, author and consultant. She is the founder of six
different businesses including the Aquatic Therapy & Rehab Institute, the
Aquatic Exercise Association, Living Right Magazine, AmericaÕs Certification
Trainers, Armchair Aerobics Inc., and the Fitness Firm. A leader in the health
and wellness industry, she also draws on her vast experience as an entrepreneur
to teach others what it takes to assume the risk of business and enterprise.
Ruth is the author of numerous articles and 15 books on her specialties of wellness
and business. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Sevier-McCahill Disability International Foundation Award; and the John Williams, Jr. International Swimming Hall of
Fame Adapted Aquatics Award. Known for her high energy and practical teaching
approaches, Ruth has brought thousands of people over the years to understand
the benefits of water exercise.
Carolyn Sprehe, BS, ATRIC, specializes in water-based
programs for people with developmental disabilities in her work at ShowMe Aquatics & Fitness, a non-profit organization
that promotes health and fitness for people of all abilities. She has a BS
in Exercise Science from Northeast Missouri State/Truman University, is ATRI
certified and was a Special Olympics Swim Coach. Carolyn received the 2003
Outstanding Recreation Provider Award from the Recreation Council of Greater
St. Louis.
