COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will provide attendees with research information related to aquatic therapy, aquatic fitness, and best-practice applications. The speakers will present research they have conducted, research reviews, or best-practice summaries pertinent to the aquatic practitioner. The purpose of the forum is to provide attendees with up-to-date research on pertinent topics to apply to everyday practice.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1)  Be exposed to research and best-practice topics pertinent to the aquatic professional.

2)  Review evidence-based research to help you with your referrals.

3)  Examine research topics relevant to the aquatic professional.

4)  Apply research and best-practice topics to everyday aquatic professional practice.

 

FACULTY: Ellen Broach, PhD, CTRS, is an associate professor at the University of South Alabama. She has held numerous positions in TR professional organizations and is on the editorial board for the IJARE and TR journals. She presents at conferences, conducts research and has published on topics such as aquatic therapy, positive emotion, and adventure.

 

FACULTY: David C. Berry, PhD, AT, ATC, ATRIC, is a Professor, Athletic Training Program Director at SVSU, and author (Emergency Trauma Management for Athletic Trainers). He serves as an active member of the Board of Certification, American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Committee, and the Sports Education Council (Michigan Cardiovascular Institute) educating the community and professionals on emergency planning and sudden cardiac awareness.
