1631 Functional Fitness and Rehabilitation with Acquapole

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  Acquapole provides a stable tool for the isolation of muscle groups in the core, upper and lower body that will assist professionals in post-surgical rehabilitation and clients with limited mobility. It provides stability to improve muscle balance, core function and flexibility.

 

The Acquapole station is a self-standing aquatic tool that helps you maximize pool space, move away from the wall and assist your clients improve coordination and flexibility. The Acquapole Elastic Bands and Boxing Bag help you engage clients with special needs, recovering from injury, surgery, or athletic fitness. Great for all populations, you will learn new ways to use the Acquapole for functional fitness and rehabilitation while improving the way you move your body.

 

During the Acquapole course, the participant will be able to use the pole equipment in the water in a circuit format allowing participants to experience the basic movements of the Acquapole station. The Acquapole station can be used in variable water heights. It provides alternate methods of support that help promote security to the patient and allows for a wider execution of movements. The versatility of accessories that can be attached to the pole provides additional exercises for different target areas to increase flexibility, muscle toning and improved cardiovascular function.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1)  Experience exercises for basic stability and mobility.

2)  Observe and explore Acquapole basic moves to determine suitability in field of work.

3)  Test modifications of basic moves for specific areas: hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, back.

4)  Explore the Elastic Pole suitability for the recovering and strengthening of joints.

 

FACULTY: Kristy Anaya, BA, a graduate of Northwestern State University, is a personal trainer and fitness instructor with Omni Fit Pro, LLC and Willis-Knighton Wellness Center. She holds several certifications, including AFAA Primary Group Certification, YogaFit Level 2, and Acquapole Level 3, 2 Master Trainer.

 

Andrea Velazquez, BS, a graduate of SUNY-Cortland, is a recreation and fitness supervisor with Yonkers Parks and Recreation. She is also the creator and owner of Avaquatics. She holds several certifications, including AEA, AquaStrength Trainer, Acquapole Trainer, Starguard Instructor, Starfish Swim Instructor Trainer, and holds a medically based aquatic certification.
