COURSE DESCRIPTION: In this course, presenter Natalie Conca will utilize her experience and innovations working with pediatric population in both the clinical and community settings as a Recreation Therapist. Attendees will learn about diagnoses and co-morbidities, justification for interventions, techniques and pediatric specific equipment. Attendees will also be educated on factors that may impact a pediatric aquatic therapy session and have an opportunity for growth in their own discipline with case studies in and out of the water.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this session, participants will:

1)  Determine pediatric specific diagnoses and co-morbidities.
2)  Explore techniques and pediatric specific equipment.
3)  Examine factors that may impact a pediatric aquatic therapy session.

 

FACULTY: Natalie Conca, CTRS, ATRIC, is a recreation therapist and consultant with a unique background in both clinical and community settings with a large variety of ages and populations. She is a multidisciplinary private practice business co-owner and manager for more than 10 years. She specializes in community inclusion for special populations and holds over eight specialty certificates in the aquatic therapy industry. She has more than 10 years of experience as an instructor and innovator in Therapeutic Horsemanship, and is a life-long avid horse owner and competitor. She is an HPSO Insured Independent Contractor and speaker/presenter at community and professional events.
