COURSE DESCRIPTION: Experience Pilates exercises which strengthen the core stabilizers for corrective functional movement. This course explores protocols for preventing falls and Aqua Pilates exercises applied together to quicken reaction time and recovery in the safe environment of the water. Learn exercises for core stability based in Pilates and dynamic balance training based in applied functional science.  

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1)  Describe three directional exercises for balance.

2)  Identify two positions in the pool to integrate core stabilization into function.

3)  Describe the landing phase of the ankle joint.

4)  Explain the processing of the ankle’s proprioception.

 

FACULTY: Anne Pringle Burnell, ATRIC, created the programs: Peyow® Aqua Pilates and Stronger Seniors®. She is an education provider and holds the following certifications: CAFS, Ai Chi, AEA, Arthritis Foundation, ACE, AFAA/NASM, and AquaStretch™. She is an Instructor Trainer for Stott Pilates/Merrithew Health & Fitness. She teaches at the Galter Life Center/Swedish Covenant Hospital, Peninsula Chicago, University of Illinois-Chicago, Core Evolution.
