COURSE DESCRIPTION: Discover dynamic stabilization of the lumbo-pelvic region and scapular region using beginner and intermediate Pilates exercises adapted for the water. The workshop includes Pilates basic principles, traditional exercises, and aquatic adaptations for both shallow and deep water. Progressions offer modifications for each exercise and may be used in therapeutic classes, or for the general population.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1)  Define Pilates 6 principles.

2)  Utilize 25 shallow water exercises from the Peyow Aqua Pilates technique.

3)  Experience 10 unilateral dynamic stabilizing exercises.

 

FACULTY: Anne Pringle Burnell, AEA, ACE, AFAA, created the Peyow¨ Aqua Pilates program and the Stronger Seniors¨ Workout Program. She is an education provider and certified by: AEA, ACE, AFAA and Stott Pilatesª. She teaches at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Peninsula Spa, University of Illinois Chicago, and has been a presenter at conferences including the National Council on Aging/ASA 2010 Joint Conference.
