Faculty: Beth Scalone, PT, DPT, OCS, ATRIC
COURSE DESCRIPTION: AquaStretch™ helps to restore flexibility, reduce pain and improve sleep. AquaStretch™ theoretically breaks down fascial adhesions utilizing a combination of the facilitator/therapist’s manual pressure and the client/patient’s intuitive movement. AquaStretch™ methodology can be utilized within a wellness program or by therapists as an aquatic manual therapy technique. This is a one-on-one manual technique and not intended for group classes.
This course builds on the foundations and expands on basic applications of AquaStretch™ related to the lumbar spine. This course will review and expand the starting positions and grips for AquaStretch™ techniques specifically aimed at the lower back. The participants will practice AquaStretch™ procedures and modifications for individuals with lower back pain.
Because of the short duration of this class the participants should have prior knowledge and exposure to AquaStretch techniques and theories.
1) Relate AquaStretch™ theories to the lumbar spine.
2) Safely perform 3-4 basic starting positions and grips related to the lumbar spine.
3) Effectively cue and perform the 4-step AquaStretch™ technique for the lumbar spine.
4) Integrate AquaStretch™ technique into a comprehensive lumbar spine rehabilitation program.
